Loft conversions and timber framing in Truro
Truro and the villages around the city.
If you are planning a loft conversion, an extension or a full renovation in Truro, that is the kind of work we do. MSB Carpentry is a carpentry and construction company based in St Columb.
Timber frames are cut and built on site, which suits extensions, one-off houses and awkward plots. Once the frame is up we carry on with the roof, soffits, fascias and cladding.
On renovations we do the structural alterations and the finishing carpentry together: moved doorways, new partitions, plastering, doors, skirting and kitchens.
Planning rules vary across Cornwall. Conservation areas, the Cornwall National Landscape and the mining World Heritage Site all limit what can be done to a roof without permission, so it is worth checking early for a house in or near Truro.

Loft conversions: a plain guide
What makes a loft suitable, the main types of conversion, and what has to happen to turn a roof space into a proper room.
Do you need planning permission for a loft conversion?
Often you do not. Here are the limits that decide it, and why parts of Cornwall are different.
Can a trussed roof be converted?
Yes. It takes more structure than an older roof, but it is done all the time.
